“LGBTQI+ Voices: Amplifying Rights Through Film” is an Erasmus+ project developed within the framework of Small-scale partnerships (KA210) in the youth sector. The project was created in response to the ongoing challenges faced by LGBTQI+ communities across Europe, including discrimination, social exclusion, and a lack of awareness in many local contexts.
At its core, the project explores the power of audiovisual storytelling as a tool for social change. By combining non-formal education, intercultural exchange, and digital creativity, the initiative empowers young people and youth workers to become active promoters of inclusion, equality, and human rights.
Throughout the project, participants are engaged in a dynamic learning process that blends theory and practice. They explore key topics such as human rights, LGBTQI+ inclusion, and advocacy, while at the same time developing practical skills in videomaking, storytelling, and digital communication. This dual approach allows them not only to better understand social issues, but also to actively contribute to raising awareness through creative outputs.
A central element of the project is the production of audiovisual content. Participants are guided in the creation of short films and media materials that address themes of discrimination, identity, and inclusion. These outputs are designed to serve as powerful advocacy tools, capable of reaching wider audiences and fostering empathy and dialogue within local communities and beyond.
In parallel, the project also focuses on building capacity among youth workers and organizations. Through training activities and collaborative work, partners develop innovative methodologies and educational resources, including a digital toolkit that can be used by educators, NGOs, and community leaders to promote LGBTQI+ rights and inclusive practices.
The project brings together organizations from different European countries, creating a space for cross-cultural exchange and cooperation. This transnational dimension enriches the learning experience, allowing participants to compare perspectives, share best practices, and develop a deeper understanding of social and cultural differences.
The impact of the project extends beyond the direct participants. By combining creative production, education, and dissemination activities, “LGBTQI+ Voices” contributes to building more inclusive communities, strengthening European values of equality and diversity, and supporting young people in becoming active and responsible citizens.
Ultimately, the project demonstrates how creativity and storytelling can be used not only as forms of expression, but also as effective tools to challenge stereotypes, promote human rights, and inspire positive social change.
